Swimsuit trends , what you need to know for this season

It is here.
After months of gorging on holiday food, followed by long sessions in the gym getting our summer bodies up to par, the unofficial start of summer is here...and do you know what that means? Bathing suits.
While the word may have been equated with cruel and unusual punishment in the past, it doesn't have to be that way this time around. With a plethora of new swimsuit trends hitting the market, our options are no longer those that range drastically from the frumpy black one piece to the too-tiny triangle bikini. Alas, you can slip on something that is as cute as your everyday attire, accessorize accordingly and head to your body of water of choice with unparalleled confidence! Our only question is...what took so damn long?
Take a look at some swimsuit trends we are loving below.
 cutout Bikini
The cutaway swimsuits are like the elastic versions of prom dresses that defied all of the high school dress codes known to man, minus all the extra fabric. And no stiff hair sprayed curls are needed. This style is a sexy revamp on the classic all coverage one-piece suit that meets somewhere between sexy and classy. Don't be fooled though, these styles produce some...interesting tan lines, so refrain from too much laying out in them.
 Printed One Pieces

OK, so you didn't make it to the gym as often as you would have liked, we aren't judging, but that is no excuse not to be styling while catching some rays. The one pieces have been uplifted from body suits to well-constructed pieces of art, with punchy prints to match. Grab your sun hat and slip into one of these designs; they're practically fool proof.

1920s Fashion: Coco Chanel, Marlene Dietrich And More Style Icons Of The Era

Many important things happened in the 1920s (Prohibition, jazz music, Art Deco...) But in our minds, one of the more significant developments of the decade was fashion entering the modern era. After decades of rigid Victorian style (think corsets and petticoats), fashion was finally becoming more relaxed, and women began to don what we now know as sportswear.
The movement, led by flappers (young ladies who pushed social norms by drinking, smoking and wearing then-risqué styles like short hemlines and excessive makeup), paved the way for what fashion has become today.
This important shift was championed by a few women who quickly became fashion icons in their own right. Between Coco Chanel, the fashion designer who was responsible for popularizing a more casual, less constricting silhouette, and the German-American actress Marlene Dietrich, who pioneered androgynous style, there were plenty of leading ladies who defied preconceived notions of femininity and beauty.

Lash Extensions: Tips You Need To Know Before Heading To The Salon

Most women don't have the time or patience to apply fake eyelashes every day. (We barely have enough time to use an eyelash curler!) So it's no surprise that lash extensions have become increasingly popular in recent years.

But to what lengths are you willing to go for a sexy flutter like Adele or Katy Perry? Actress Kristin Chenoweth had an allergic reaction to lash glue containing formaldehyde, and she ended up with "eyelid lips." Ouch!

Feeling a bit apprehensive about trying this beauty treatment? We asked lash expert Courtney Akai to debunk the myths of lash extensions.

What are the most common types of lash extensions?
There are three types of lash extensions: synthetic, silk and mink. Size availability ranges from 6mm to 17mm. Once selected, the lashes are applied one at a time using a specially formulated, semi-permanent glue that will not irritate the eye nor damage the natural lash. However, since allergic reactions are possible, there are different types of glue based on one's sensitivity.

How long does it take to apply lash extensions?
Applying a full set of lashes takes about two hours, and can be maintained year-round with touch-ups recommended every three to four weeks. A half set of lashes are an economical alternative to achieve a similarly dramatic effect, applied as filler to thicken natural lashes, or applied outward from the eye for a specialized look.

Everyone has different lashes, and depending on the condition of your own natural lashes, lash experts can only go a certain length or thickness. (This is to ensure that your own lashes remain healthy.) For example, if your natural lashes are on the shorter, thinner side, you won't be able to get a crazy, dramatic Kim Kardashian look, because it won't last. It's better to start out with a half set (50 to 60 percent of your top lashes) if you aren't sure or it's your first time. It’s easier to add more than to remove lashes!

What happens if glue gets in your eyes?
Since your eyes are shut the whole time lash extensions are being applied, no glue will ever get into your eye. To avoid any irritation, however, the first safety precaution you can take is to be sure that the glue is safe for your eyes and doesn't contain anything that can harm them, like formaldehyde. Shipping glues across the world often leads to a buildup of formaldehyde by the time they reach the salon.

Additionally, it's important to understand the difference between an allergic reaction and an infection. A licensed and experienced lash technician will not let an infection occur, but if you’re allergic to the glue, you’re still going to be allergic -- this doesn’t mean the glue is inherently harmful.

Can you go blind?
No. Your technician should be trained properly to apply the adhesive and lashes in a way that is completely harmless. Your eyes are closed the entire time of the procedure. No matter how bad an allergic reaction may get, you will never go blind. The worse case scenario is that you need to go to the eye doctor to get specific eye drops to treat an allergic reaction.

What happens when you cry?
If you experience any burning or discomfort during the procedure, causing your eyes to tear or making you cry, this is a huge red flag and you should certainly speak up. You may need to have your technician change the glue. Getting lash extensions should be a completely pain-free experience.

Beyonce did more than turn a few heads when she came out on stage in a boob-defining bustier at the opening of her Mrs. Carter World Tour in Serbia. Beyonce replaces Lana Del Ray for H&M

Beyoncé has confirmed that she will be the face for H&M‘s summer campaign this year. The popular clothing line will feature swimwear and beachwear pieces which will include a bikini from H&M’s own Water collection – a line that raises money for Water Aid.
The television commercials for the major campaign are planning to feature the RnB diva’s new song Standing On The Sun, and will launch along an accompanying TV commercial.
Here’s what Beyoncé had to say about her campaign:
“I’ve always liked H&M’s focus on fun affordable fashion. I really loved the concept we collaborated on to explore the different emotions of women represented by the four elements – fire, water, earth and wind. It was a beautiful shoot on a tropical island. It felt more like making a video than a commercial.”

Famed Fashion Designer Vivienne Westwood: Michelle Obama’s Style Is ‘Dreadful’ | Breaking News for Black America

In a Q&A with the New York Times, iconic fashion designer Vivienne Westwood said that she had such disdain for First Lady Michelle Obama‘s fashion sense that she couldn’t even bear to talk about her.
After the 71-year old British style legend said that Kate Middleton (wife of England’s Prince William) was setting a bad example by having the same outfit in different colors and should strive to buy less clothes, it was jokingly suggested that she must really like Obama, then, who is not only adored for her fashion sense here in the states, but the confidence she exudes when recycling outfits or rearranging separates. The FLOTUS is also known for combining high end clothes and value items, so clearly Westwood would respect that, no?
No.
Vivienne Westwood, Michelle Obama

Q. What?
A. I don’t want to talk about it. Really, I can’t. She’s a very nice looking lady, but it’s a nonstarter regarding clothes that suit her. Jackie Kennedy was a different matter altogether. It just has to suit her and be something that makes a human being more glamorous. That’s what fashion is there for. It’s there to help, not just to make you look more conservative.
The first lady is probably not that concerned with Westwood’s criticism. In the February 2009Vogue, she shared her fashion philosophy:
“First and foremost, I wear what I love. That’s what women have to focus on: what makes them happy and what makes them feel comfortable and beautiful. If I can have any im
pact, I want women to feel good about themselves and have fun with fashion.”
Westwood isn’t the first fashion legend to recently weigh in on the FLOTUS’ style. In an interview for France’s Canal Plus,Karl Lagerfeld said that he “adored” the First Lady, but: “I don’t understand the change of hair … Frankly, the fringe was a bad idea. It’s not good.” He further stated that there was nothing presidential about her new fringe, and said it made her look like a news anchor.
